Sampling the local cuisine is always a big part of an adventure.  Following are the places we have visited and recommend in that regard:

Sam Choy's - Great open air setting that is reportedly the place to experience a Kona sunset.  The pork loin, macadamia nut crusted chicken, the braised beef short ribs, and the three fish combo were all excellent and the Molten Lava Flow drink was especially delicious.

For Marcia's birthday (a big one) and JJ's birthday (almost a big one) we traveled to the Big Island of Hawaii (how appropriate!) for some fun in the sun.  Glad you decided to follow along on our adventure.

We rented a condo in Kona overlooking the ocean with a fantastic view of the Banyan Surf Area where large numbers of surfers congregate from first light to dusk.
